I recently bought the 2011 Thundercats animated series for my kids, and I was pleasantly surprised by the updated version of this 80's classic.

It got me thinking about other fantastic cartoons from that period that I loved: Dungeons and Dragons, Ulysses, Defenders of the Earth, and more.

What cartoons would you like to see updated and remade for the 21st century?

None. I've seen it done with Winnie the Pooh, Looney Tunes, Scooby Doo, and Tom & Jerry, and I do not like it one bit.

Saying that, I did enjoy Captain Planet when I was a kid, and it was all about looking after the environment. I think if that was brought back it could help teach kids about looking after the environment in a fun and entertaining way.
Tom and Jerry -though not sure that was the type you meant in your question.

I loved Tom and Jerry though I think they were made before the 80's?

I think you are right - they started off in the 30s or 40s I think. And originally, I think they weren't specifically made for children. The 80s were a decade where children's TV really exploded, along with all the merchandising that went along with it.
I also like the new Thundercats. I have a lot of the 80's cartoons and my kids really like D & D as well. It would be fun to see He-Man updated.
I think I'd like to see Dungeons and Dragons remade. I think that would be awesome.
Heman and Sheara

Dungeons and Dragons and Defenders of the Earth would be awesome! Voltron would also be great, but Gargoyles tops my list, for sure! Particularly if they used the same voice actors, like Jonathan Frakes, Michael Dorn and basically the rest of the Star Trek TNG cast :D
I'm not sure I've ever even heard of Gargoyles - I'll need to check it out. I wonder if it made it to the UK?
The initial episodes, before Charles remarries and the kids got older.

It's a bit girlie, but it was a favourite of mine and that's JEM - was truely outrageous! Also LOVED Battle of the Planets! I would like to see them remade.
