What’s your favourite renovation show?

We touched on this a bit when we discussed reality TV. Reno shows are a huge part of reality TV with whole stations dedicated to them. It seems like everyone want to get in on the reno action, from Arnold Schwarzenegger and LeAnn Rimes who were among the 150 special guests on ABCs Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to Vanilla Ice who is now starring in his second reno Show, “Vanilla Ice Goes Amish”. Which ones do you love?

I'm a big fan of Mike Holmes' different shows, like Holmes on Homes or Holmes Makes it Right. It's always educational, and he's always helping someone who needs it which in a big plus in my books. I also really like Income Property which is a show about people either adding an apartment to a home they already own or, buying a property that will be converted into two or more suites. The owner lives in one suite and rents out the rest.
The Block is quite popular in Australia and I finally started watching it last season. Was surprised I liked it.
For me, The Block has also been a guilty pleasure of late. I really love certain aspects of the show. However, the repeated re-airing of any small little spat between anyone on the show gets frustrating to watch. The Block would be much better if they focused more on design and less on inter-team dramas.
It took me a long time to figure out that reno means renovation. Is that right? My favourite renovation show is Grand Designs, where ambitious (usually couples) decide to build their dream house using innovative designs without much cash to spend on it. Their style rarely suits my taste, but the designs are very clever and inspiring.
You got it Bryony, renovation shows. I've edited the title so it's clear. Sorry about that!

I'm going to have to check out Grand Designs. I've never heard of it, but it sounds interesting!
Thanks; that makes it clear. There is an Australian version on The LifeStyle Channel if you are interested.
