There was a lot of divided opinion on the casting of Peter Capaldi prior to the airing of his first season. Now that his first season with the show is done and dusted, I'm wondering if opinions are still as divided as before.
So what do you think about Peter Capaldi as The Doctor? Did he live up to expectations, did he let you down or was he even better than you could have imagined?
I think he's brilliant!!. My 12 yo daughter thinks he's great as well and given that she has a rather large crush on Smith, I'd say that's a huge compliment. Of course it goes without saying that no one will ever be better than Matt in her eyes :D
On the other side my mum doesn't like him, she's not sure why.
Bit of a let down. No style and not quirky like David Tennant or even Matt Smith. A long way from Tom Baker.
Benedict Cumberpatch would be a better choice.
However stories are letting him down. Last few seasons have not been up to par since the change in writers.
I think he will go down as one of the best. Peter is a brilliant actor who inhabits whatever role he plays. He has just the right balance of humour, flakiness and grit. Having been a mad Doctor Who fan when he was young gives him an excellent background to build on when playing the role. I hope he rivals Tom Baker for longevity as the Doctor.
