This is the first I've heard of the show, what's it about?

It's a comedy, with Josh Thomas playing a fictional version of himself. In the first season his mum attempts suicide (she is bipolar) and he has to move back in with her to look after her. At the same time he comes to terms with his sexuality (comes out as gay), gets a boyfriend, deals with various everyday stuff.

No, I do not watch it. I watched a bit of one and think it is something you may have to watch a few times before liking it. I think there is something else I watch generally when this is on, and have not bothered to see it on Iview.
