'If you don't want to know the results, leave the room now.' This is a common phrase spoken by newsreaders before they reveal the results of a sports match. But usually before you get a chance to leave the room or even change the channel, they announce who won. Do you think the news allows enough time for fans to switch off, or do they announce too quickly? Should they even announce it at all? Surely those who are interested will watch the match, and those who aren't don't care anyway?

News should announce it, for those that can't watch it - but if you are a fan, you know when to avoid the news on tv &radio (twitter is a bigger problem!)
While I don't have a problem with the news announcing the results, I do not think they allow viewers enough time to switch the channel beforehand.
I agree with Lydia, fans know better than to watch the news and to avoid social media until they are up to speed.
