Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories were originally made into a TV adaptation in 1984, starring Jeremy Brett. In 2010, a modern version was created, starring Benedict Cumberbatch. Which Holmes do you think works best?

I liked the old ones - it took me awhile to get into the new one but they're both good. To be honest, I still think of Basil Rathbone as Holmes.
I enjoy Sherlock Holmes in every version I've seen him in so far. Benedict Cumberbatch's version was good, as is Hugh Lawrie's House (a bit further than the original, but still an adaptation).
I love Cumberbatch's Holmes, and find Downey Unior pretty funny, but I'm not really into Elementary. Not sure exactly what it is that turns me off that show.
I prefer the 1984 version, to be totally honest with you.Jeremy Brett.

Not a fan of Cumberbatch what-so-ever.

I am not a fan of Sherlock Holmes, but I do prefer the older version because it is set in the correct period, and Jeremy Brett portrays the character in the dark, sinister tone I expect Holmes to be in.
The new ones. I could never get into the original.
The late, great Jeremy Brett, IMHO, was the epitome of Holmes!
Really enjoyed his portrayal, & have all his series' on DVD, thank goodness!

BC is very good, as an 'updated' version. But he hasn't been allowed the gravitas in his acting, as I would expect of Holmes, from Doyle's books.
