There's big bucks to be made in music and soundtracks, and for good reason; music can form an integral part of our relationship with anything that we watch, and impact a show's success and its ability to be remembered.

Although not necessarily my favourite theme tune, I think one of the best theme tunes that fits the nature of the program, is Dido's 'Here With Me' for Roswell. The show is about aliens on earth trying to find out who they are, where they belong, trying to fit in, and hiding from those who want to kill them. The song goes 'Oh I am what I am, I'll do what I want. but I can't hide, I can't be, until you're resting here with me'. The two were practically made for one another.
Family Ties - catchy and nostalgic - 'and there ain't no nothing we can't love each through, what did we do baby, without us, sha la la...'
My favourite is probably Doctor Who (in all its variations). I also love the themes to Farscape (it sounds really alien, fits the show so well), The X Files (so evocative!) and Battlestar Gallactica (drums!). For singing along badly I like Firefly, M*A*S*H, Veronica Mars' "We Used To Be Friends and Scrubs' "I'm No Superman".
The theme from "Cheers" is one of my all time favourites (for a TV show).
H R PuffnStuff....especially the end credits song.
The I dream of Jennie theme song, the Big Bang theory theme song. I think the Revenge theme song would have to be my favourite though!
I didn't get that into the series, but always hung around long enough to hear the theme song of "The Heights", which was "How do you talk to an Angel?" performed by Jamie Walters. Beautiful song.
The old Mickey Mouse Club Theme Song is so addictive.
I loved all of the Star Trek themes except Enterprise, but all the orchestral songs just had such class.
Not my favourite song but one that always gets stuck in my head is the theme from "The Brady Bunch"

Reading through some of the answers here, I now have about 5 TV themes in my head: MASH, The Brady Bunch, Cheers, throw in a little Gilligan's Island for good measure.
I like the theme from Mad Men and The Wire. I especially like the way they re-recorded The Wire theme each year. Oh, and if you like New Orleans jazz, nothing beats the theme from Treme.
There's a lot of good answers here. The tune that really does it for me is from the show Elementary.
The theme of 'Offspring' is great. The theme to 'The Grahame Norton Show', is instantly recognisable. But the 'Friends' theme, is the one that really gets stuck in your head! Now you've put up 'The Monkees' picture, it's theme is now running through my head. Sesame St's is memorable, as is 'Playschool's'. Friend's theme to be hands down, the one everyone would sing the instant a reruncomes on. Gilligan's island would also be instantly recognisable to people of a certain age.
