Are there too many super hero shows being made?

Super heroes are dominating the big screen and there is about to be a massive super hero attack on the small screen as well. Arrow and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are already getting great ratings but is the small screen ready for more? And by more, I mean a lot more! Marvel has made a deal with Netflix to produce five more shows while DC Comics is about to introduce Barry Allen in Arrow, who will later become the Flash. DC has also announced another line of shows coming down the pipe. Is it too much? Have you had enough or are you screaming for more heroes on the screen?

That's Barry Allen on Oliver Queen's right

I've never been much of a super hero fan to start with, but I can see the appeal. Big action adventures, epic battles, and the little guy gaining special powers. Something as grand as all that, I think is best seen on the big screen, or imagined by fans reading comic books. Super Hero television shows clearly are popular as programs like 'Heroes' proves, but they lack the scale and excitement of seeing it in the cinema. I'm all for animated super heroes on TV, but I think live action super heroes are best left for the cinema.
You are so right, Bryony. The animated series of Justice League is brilliant, and I can't imagine it being done half as well live action.
I love the concept of super-hero type shows but rarely are they done well. Often the makers of these kind of shows don't have the budget to make a realistic looking series, so instead they go for cheese effects and hokey stories. There are exceptions, Heroes was great, although I have only watched the first 2 seasons. I loved Alphas. I'm also not saying that comedic super-heroes can't be done right either. The All-Mighty Johnsons had a great comedic edge to it, and was an awesome show. Unfortunately both Alphas and the All-Mighty Johnsons were cancelled before their time.

So yes, I love super-hero shows, but they have to be done right. If not, then don't bother.
I don't think they're making the right ones, that's the problem. Heroes was brilliant. I'd like more of that ilk.
I love super heroes shows, but since Heroes, haven't found one that I want to watch. I can't wait for DC Comics to bring out Episode 5.
I can't say I watch any, but as a kid I loved The Invisible Man (with David McCallum) and the Hulk. I love Superhero movies - I go and see them all, even if they look bad in the ads (because the big screen helps).
If they're keeping reality and cooking shows off the screen, make more of them, I say!!
